Professor Cox has written extensively in the areas of US foreign economic policy, international political economy, American foreign policy, and the political economy of baseball. His books include Corporate Power, Class Conflict and the Crisis of the New Globalization, Lexington Books, 2019; Corporate Power and Globalization in U.S. Foreign Policy (ed.), Routledge Press, 2012; Free Agency and Competitive Balance in Baseball, McFarland Press, 2006; US Politics and the Global Economy, with Dan Skidmore-Hess, Lynne Rienner Press, 1999; Business and the State in International Relations (ed.), Westview Press, 1997; and Power and Profits: US Policy in Central America, University of Kentucky Press, 1994.
In 2013, Professor Cox created the first open access academic journal in the history of FIU, titled Class, Race and Corporate Power.
Professor Cox has won several teaching awards and has taught a wide variety of courses, including American Foreign Policy, International Political Economy, and Corporate Power and American Politics. He served as Director of Graduate Studies of the Political Science program from the fall of 2008 through the spring of 2011. He was Associate Chair of the Department of Politics and International Relations from the summer of 2012 to 2016
