Dr. Haar was formerly associate dean and director of the Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center. He is also a Global Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., and a Research Affiliate of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University.
Dr. Haar was formerly Director of the Inter-American Business and Labor Program at the North-South Center, University of Miami, and has held visiting appointments at Wharton, Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, and the American Enterprise Institute. He was also a research associate at Columbia University and a Fulbright Scholar at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Brazil. Dr. Haar was Director of Washington Programs for the Council of the Americas, a New York-based business association of over 200 corporations comprising a majority of U.S. private investment in Latin America, and served as Special Assistant to two cabinet secretaries. He has written twelve books and published articles in the Journal of Business Research, Management International Review, Journal of World Business, International Trade and Finance Journal, International Marketing Review, Multinational Business Review, and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions, and Money and consulted for firms such as Exxon, IBM, Microsoft, Heineken, Ford Motor Company, Royal Dutch Shell, Merrill Lynch, FMC, Young & Rubicam, Disney, and YPF oil company of Argentina. His recent books include Winning Strategies for the New Latin Markets, Can Latin America Compete? Small Firms, Global Markets: Competitive Challenges in the New Economy, and The Future of Entrepreneurship In Latin America.
