overview

  • Dr. Qing Lu is Research Associate Professor in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University. Dr. Qing Lu received his MD in Shandong Medical College, China, and Ph.D. degree from Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. He completed postdoctoral training in School of Medicine in Wayne State University and Medical College of Georgia. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Qing Lu has been developing in ongoing techniques to elucidate the mechanisms of apoptosis and autophagy in the pulmonary hypertension and hypoxia ischemic brain injury. These techniques include animal model surgery, tissue, and cell culture, using EPR to measure superoxide levels in cells and tissue, fluorescent microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy for cell imaging of apoptotic and autophagic cellular pathology examinations, as well as small animal behavior models and evaluations. Dr. Qing Lu recent focused on mitochondrial functions on pulmonary endothelial cells metabolism in PAH, inflammasome activation and barrier disruption in acute lung injury.
