Dr. Clemencia Pinilla is recognized as a pioneer in the field of combinatorial chemistry and the inventor of positional scanning libraries. She has over 30 years of research experience in the identification of ligands using mixture-based libraries, supported by more than 145 peer-review publications. She joined Florida International University (FIU) in March 2020 as part of the group of investigators from Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies. Dr. Pinilla has work closely with other investigators now at the Center of Translational Sciences at FIU on all the aspects of ligand identification for basic research and drug-lead discovery.
Most of Dr. Pinilla’s current work focuses on T-cell specificity, identification of melanocortin receptor ligands and identification of compounds that inhibit antimicrobial resistance.
