Overview
overview
- Matt Valente is an assistant professor of Quantitative Psychology at Florida International University. His primary methodological research interests include evaluating and applying modern causal inference methods in the social sciences using the potential outcomes framework for causal inference. Two foci of his primary research include evaluating traditional and potential outcomes estimators in longitudinal mediation models and applying modern causal inference methods from the potential outcomes framework. In addition to his focal work, he is interested in investigating various aspects of mediation methods including significance testing when components of the mediated effect (i.e., path coefficients) are correlated such as in multilevel and structural equation models and applications of Bayesian inference to the potential outcomes framework.
