overview

  • After finishing my undergraduate degree in English at Eastern Montana College, I taught English to ninth graders for a year before heading off to seek my fortune as an actress. My smarter sister pointed out that if I actually hoped to earn a living acting, I needed to learn about television. While studying for my master’s degree in Mass Communication at the University of Utah, I got interested in journalism and law. After working in radio and television as a producer, writer and reporter, I earned a J.D. from New York Law School and represented media clients both as corporate counsel and in private practice. Along the way, I taught mass communication law at the University of Utah and at Hofstra University School of Law. Since I joined the FIU faculty, law continues to be the focus of my teaching and research.
