abstract

  • This paper presents the results of a study of the performance of semirigid steel beam-to-column connections under cyclic loadings. Fatigue crack propagation behavior and hysteretic energy absorption characteristics are reported for connections subjected to constant and variable amplitude displacement histories. Empirical low-cycle fatigue life relationships established by the constant amplitude tests have been applied to a linear damage accumulation model; the results of several variable amplitude block cyclic tests are compared with damage summations predicted by the model.
