abstract
A rapid procedure for dehydrating and clearing siliceous sponges (Haliclona aquaeductus) and calcified corals (Swiftia exserta) with 2, 2 dimethoxypropane and methyl salicylate has been developed. This modification of the Muller and Skinner method offers rapidity, preservation of tissue integrity, reproducibility, and improved staining quality.
