abstract

  • Eleven tests were conducted on 1/2-scale, single-story infilled frame specimens to study the influence of the relative strengths of the infill panels and the bounding frames and the frame aspect ratio on the performance of masonry-infilled R/C frames. It was observed that specimens with stronger infills exhibited a higher load resistance and a better energy-dissipation capability. However, their post-peak resistance dropped more rapidly as the displacement increased. Finite element models incorporating the interaction of the frame-panel interface and the fracture behavior of mortar joints have been developed. An excellent correlation has been obtained between the experimental and numerical results.
