  • The influences of Ti added by electrolysis and the master alloys containing Ti or B on the effects of grain refinement and resistance to fading were investigated in pure Al. The results indicate that the Ti added by electrolysis and Al-5Ti master alloy have good effects of grain refinement when the aluminum melt temperature is lower. But the effect of grain refinement fades rapidly with the rise of the melt temperature; By adding Al-4B master alloy to electrolytic low-titanium aluminum alloy at 720°C, the best effect of grain refinement can be obtained and the effect fades slightly with the rise of the melt temperature; When Al-5Ti and Al-4B are added to the aluminum melt simultaneously, the effect of grain refinement of Al-5Ti master alloy can be improved obviously, but it is inferior to that of adding Al-4B master alloy to electrolytic low-titanium aluminum alloy; Al-5Ti-1B master alloy has the strongest ability of resistance to fading, the grain size of the sample first decreases with the melt temperature increasing. When the melt temperature is higher than about 900°C, the fading occurs. The experimental results and the grain refinement mechanism are also discussed in this article.
