  • The local atomic structure of liquid krypton under atmospheric pressure has been studied with the technique of x-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS). For measuring the XAFS of liquid krypton at low temperature, a special sample holding method is applied. The x-ray absorption spectra of gaseous and solid krypton are also measured for the comparison and data analysis. Based on the reverse Monte Carlo simulation and the constructed configurations, the radial distribution function as well as the coordination number and bond-angle distribution of liquid krypton is given. © 2005 The American Physical Society.
